Gwendolyn Wilde graced the cover of Haute Doll April 2006, this was our first glance at this new Mysterious minx.
The article followed her sculpting, and development.
With great excitement, it was announced that there was going to be an event as part of the Fashionation Convention, called Her Reluctant Debut (At Lunch?).
Rumours had circulated during convention that Gwendolyn had her name changed, and talk was abound as to what the table centre pieces were. Would they be showing Miss Wilde herself as a table centrepiece, or keeping her under wraps. We were also curious about the companion piece, would there be another doll at this early stage??
 As we entered the room, we were greeted by a darkened room, with a variety of antique knick knacks as table centrepieces, and each plate was adorned with the most realistic plastic rose. Attendees were treated to the process that Robert Tonner went through to create the newly named Ellowyne. (The previous name was taken and could not to copywrited, thanks to a goose.)

Some of the outfits that were mentioned were:- A Cold Wind (Tartan outfit), She Won't Go Through with it (Bridal Outfit), All the Leaves Are Brown, Ennui At Tea, ....Now, What ?, Melancholy Melody, and Bitter Green. As these were a mix of sketches and photos, there were no indication as to what were dressed doll, and seperate outfits. The sketches above weren't mentioned as part of the line.
As for her storyline, Ellowyne is in her late teens, 17-19, and lives in San Fransisco. Ellowyne's parents live in a cold, glass and steel house on the West Coast near San Francisco. As soon as she was able ('old enough') Ellowyne moved into her Grandmother's house in San Francisco. She is a collector of weird antique and modern items, like Judith Leiber animal bags, antique and modern broaches, and sterling silver, and vintage beaded bags. She shuns modern life, and lives in an old brown stone (pictured above, uncharacteristically shown with the lights on!). She was diagonosed at childhood with chronic ennui.
Ennui - is a feeling of weariness and dissatisfaction.
Ennui is different from boredom in that ennui describes weariness or annoyance over a long period of time; boredom is relieved easily, while ennui is constant.(From Wikipedia)
Ellowyne's pet cat is called Sybil, she doesn�t have 9 lives, but 9 personalities.
Her friend Prudence Moody, also has a cat, but it's more like this ...
Ellowyne decided that since �you are what you eat� she will eat only whipped cream and nasturshums.
Ellowyne's parent's have their sites set on a suiter for her, Edwin, a prim and proper gentleman?, but she won't have a bar of him. Unbeknownst to her, she has a sceret admirer, Rufus, the maintenance man, but of course she doesn't know that he exists.
The first Ellowyne to be released was "Her Reluctant Debut", which is a blonde Elowyne dressed in a Navy Blue 2 piece outfit. She has a sheath dress under an organza overdress. She comes with a clear resin base, with a metal stand which goes around her waist.
The companion piece for the convention was the outfit, called Ennui at Tea.
